Taylor Notches Runner-Up Result With ASCS Frontier Region

Inside Line Promotions – GILLETTE, Wyo. (June 7, 2018) – Zac Taylor scored a runner-up finish in his season debut with the ASCS Frontier Region last Saturday at Gillette Thunder Speedway.

“For our first sprint car race of the season with a new engine, I couldn’t be more excited,” he said. “It was a phenomenal weekend.”

Taylor, who competed in a midget and 305ci winged sprint car in 2017, said the family purchased a 5-year-old 360ci engine a couple of months ago. It only had three races on it since last being freshened.

“In the heat I started on the pole and led the whole thing,” he said. “We had an extra quart of oil in the dry sump and it smoked pretty bad in the turns. I kept an eye on the oil pressure and it was great the entire race.”

Taylor’s heat race performance advanced him into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 2 to start the A Main on the outside of the front row and he ran there during the early stages of the race before dropping a couple of positions.

“I fell back to fourth and the car just came in and I got back to second, but the leader was already three quarters of a lap ahead of us,” he said. “I’ll settle for second. I’m happy the car worked well and the motor ran great.”

Taylor will return to action with the ASCS Frontier Region this Friday at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., and Saturday at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont. He then plans to test an asphalt modified the following week along with getting back behind the wheel of Todd Henry’s midget.
