Herrera Turn Attention To Gillette After Tire Woes in Belgrade

Bryan Hulbert – BELGRADE, Mont. (July 11, 2018) Rolling into Gillette Thunder Speedway on Wednesday, July 11, Johnny Herrera is looking to rebound from two nights of tire issues at the Grizzly Nationals in Belgrade, Mont.
With a top-five run working on Friday night of the Grizzly Nationals, the right rear tire of Johnny Herrera’s Champion Brands No. 45x let go, resulting in a DNF.
“We just ran a little too hard and well, just ran the tires off of it,” commented Herrera.
Going into Saturday, the team set up expecting the track to clean off and take rubber, so a hard right rear was installed. With a little track prep lasting longer than expected, Johnny chased the car throughout the first half of the feature before finally getting grip.
“We really thought the track was going to take rubber, so we went ahead and put a Hard tire on and we put a used one on but it still just didn’t fire until the track cleaned off. We just made a mistake, but we’re going to go into Gillette and see what we can do. We ran pretty well the last time we were there, so we’ll see if we can get to the front.”
